Pros
Good entry position into mental health/social care sector. You will work at a fast pace and learn very quickly and this will reflect positively on your confidence. While base pay could be better, it is enough to live on and above minimum wage.
Cons
Poor team discipline bred a toxic culture. You work in pairs, or threes at best, in order to safely manage a vulnerable clientele. Not a bad thing in itself, but it's like working in a bubble: Chinese whispers grow and you get pulled into supervisions to explain your negative energy; when you press for specifics (is this an allegation?) I was gaslit with silence -management won't specify but insist you talk all the same. Team members 'played the game' by not showing up to work -sometimes for extended periods; they got away with it because most would hide this detail to protect them -I would report it. I feel like I was slowly being pushed out. In the end, I left without an onward job offer just to reset my mind. I bounces back with no regrets.
