Pros

The experience helps you appreciate the healthy work environments you have taken for granted in the past.

Cons

Teaching subjects to students who have zero interest, who are paid to occupy a seat and have no intention of applying what they learn is a daunting task in of itself. What makes this worse is the trainer is also expected to act as a disciplinarian in a culture which grants them no authority to perform their task. Ex-patriots are equivalent to dogs and given the task to train and keep students inline but are heavily chastised when Western pedagogical methods fail. The old adage of "you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink" is no excuse and too many trainers are tempted to give the students a passing grade despite them failing. Funding is dependent on success and it is easier to make it look like the students and the teachers are successful by giving the students a passing grade. Tools like information and resources are withheld and only given after repetitious pleading and once given, are leveraged against you as favours. Every action or inaction is committed with the sole purpose to keep the instructors at a disadvantage. Pens, paper, whiteboard markers and even course material were essentially begged for and when these items were finally given, they were handed out as if they were rewards for good behaviour and performance. I have not received my final pay of 7,750 SAR although they did honour their promise to fly me home.
