Just like corporate America, they run mean and lean-- - Registered Nurse UCHealth Employee Review

Pros

Good graduate nurse program. You get 3-6 months of orientation basically for free and an easy commitment for a couple of years. Then you have your experience and can move around.. And work elsewhere.

Cons

Timid middle management--our manager wants us to "giggle" more. Was hoping there might be a better answer for short-staffing, high acuities, negative morale and high stress. Since there is no longer a nursing shortage there is little incentive to retain nurses who have identified issues and want to find solutions..they too easily get labeled as "problems". Was hoping a teaching hospital would have less of a corporate feel--bottom line is almighty dollar.

Pros

I work with amazing co-workers and patients. Everyone is great and hard-working but fun environment.

Cons

Always a lot of work but, job security, right? Compensation is less than other hospitals but the opportunity for advancement in a teaching hospital makes up for it.

Pros

High Acuity patients Maintain Skillset Job security

Cons

Too many patients in a day and not enough time to spend with them. Minimal admin time to manage InBasket and patient needs. Frequently need to juggle a full and complex patient schedule with urgent test results and care coordination. Have to use personal PTO to cover holidays and any time the clinic is closed due to circumstances outside of our control. (weather, power outages, etc) Annual performance Bonuses are now being determined by online patient feedback scores.
