Pros

They offer remote work, that's the only pro with this company.

Cons

Company values are not practiced and there's no work culture - I’ve worked for 5 remote companies including UENI and it was the only one with no clear set of values and culture. This led to a toxic work environment where I felt unsupported, undervalued, and sometimes even disrespected. This manifested in a variety of ways, but mainly including discrimination, and favoritism. In such an environment, I felt afraid to speak up or share my opinions, which stifled my creativity and innovation. High turnover rate - I was so incredibly overworked but underpaid. Because so many employees at UENI feel overworked they become stressed and burnt out, leading to decreased productivity and job satisfaction. This has resulted in high levels of absenteeism and employee turnover as well as a negative work environment. When employees feel undervalued and overworked, they may become resentful towards their employer and colleagues, this was definitely the case for me. Racism & Micro-aggressions: I was once asked to change my name to a more white-washed version of my name for a voice-over of an ad they requested me to do. This really offended me. The act of asking someone to change their name to fit into the dominant culture's norms is a form of cultural assimilation. In this case, the request to change my name is an example of linguistic assimilation, which is a type of cultural assimilation that involves changing one's name or language to fit into the dominant culture. This request implies that my name is not acceptable or desirable as it is and that it needs to be changed to fit into the dominant culture's norms. This request can be seen as a form of racism because it implies that my name is not good enough or acceptable because it does not conform to the dominant culture's norms. It also reinforces the idea that certain cultures and names are inferior to others, which perpetuates systemic racism. Furthermore, this request can also be considered a microaggression. Microaggressions are subtle forms of discrimination that are often unintentional but still have a harmful impact on marginalized groups. Asking someone to change their name can be seen as a microaggression because it invalidates their identity and reinforces power imbalances between dominant and marginalized cultures. In conclusion, asking someone to change their name for any reason can be considered a form of racism and microaggression as it perpetuates systemic inequalities and invalidates individual identities. No career advancement opportunities - it's a nightmare working in a place like UENI when you know you'll never be given any career advancement opportunities. I have dreams, I don't want to be a support agent for the next 10 years of my life which is why I had to look for other job opportunities away from UENI. I felt like I was in a dead-end job with no chance for growth or development. This led to feelings of stagnation and boredom, which negatively impacted my job satisfaction and productivity.

Hi ex-UENIer. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and let me start by saying that It's a shame that you decide to use this medium to say such things and yet, have decided never to raise it to HR. There are a couple of items there, that I would like to answer: 1) You talk about a high turnover rate. Do people join and leave companies? Yes, of course. It's normal. But what we should be talking about instead is the RETENTION rate (which is well above 80%) and average tenure (3+ years). 2) You talk about Racism and microaggressions. Not only is this unacceptable but this is the first time we are hearing about it. If that offended you why not raise it? If you have in fact worked at UENI you should know that the company is diverse and we embrace it 100%. 3) No career advancement opportunities: I can give you plenty of examples where people have been promoted within and outside their initial teams. Does everyone get a promotion and new roles? No, those are tied to performance and skills. But even those that stay in the same role, do get to do other activities and get more responsibilities. It also seems that you have been with us for less than 1 year, so not sure what you expected to achieve in terms of career progression in less than 1 year. You also talk a lot about fair wages. Considering that our retention is not low, our average tenure is on 3 years (with people working for UENI for 5+ years) and people are overall satisfied, it seems that for you, UENI was not the right fit, and that is ok. I will look into the items you mention in your review. Thank you
