Pros
My coworkers. They were great people who I enjoyed spending 40 hours a week with, very passionate and hardworking too.
I guess it's an interesting environment to work in, being surrounded by boats and watersports. Keeps things lively and being near the sea helps.
Cons
The Leadership Team. They often make decisions that seem to come from something a friend said to them once, rather than insightful guidance of the mangers and staff on the front line. Responsibility is though put on that front line team if the decisions implemented did not succeed, ignoring that they had made everyone aware of the risks.
Existing staff are often hired over. The organisation is filled with talented, passionate people but I either see little promotional opportunities, despite promises often being made of development (this would require investing time or support in their staff which might take time or resource they seem unwilling to dedicate) or that people genuinely do not want to be promoted within the organisation because they are already overworked and underappreciated that they dread the thought of taking on any more responsibility.
If leadership decide that you might be slightly more 'difficult' than they would ideally like (i.e you might express dissatisfaction for your role, especially if they decide to change it overnight which happens all too often) they will find a way to get rid of you, rather than attempting to support or uplift you. Doesn't matter if you have been a star employee, I have watched people go from being employee of the month, to 'being made redundant' within 3 months (though their role was vital and changed very little when a new employee was hired, with some even hiring temp staff until they could recruit after a 'redundant' role was terminated). These redundancies will come out of nowhere too, an example being someone who had their 6 month probation signed off and then was made redundant a week later. The organisation lacks stability, but expects every member of staff to be 100% stable and okay with that being the case. The organisation is not flexible, but staff are expected to be happy and willing to be flexible at all times.
