Pros

This is a company of PEOPLE. The work to life balance is incredible. The work is not stressful and it can be fulfilling. There is a ton of training classes internally to take. If you do not like where you are in the company, you can transfer to a different department. This is a global company, so if you would like to relocate there is a possibility. Even as this company has become for profit, their values and morals for creating a safer world have not slipped. This is a company of values and morals, and it's ingrained in them.

Cons

Personal growth is stagnant. Your career is set out as soon as you join. (This is not necessarily a bad thing, it really depends what type of person you are) Any career jumps faster than expected will not come within 8-10yrs of employment here(and usually involves changing departments). Salary is not very competitive with the engineering field as a whole. The job is not complicated, this means anyone can do it. There are a multitude of engineering roles filled by non engineers, we just call them "project handlers" This company is a little confused as to what they would like to become. BUT there is one thing for sure, this CEO wants to make the world a better place.

Pros

- The team is great. Both morning and night shift tend to interact well and joke. Both teams know the importance of time and place meaning they take work seriously but also have fun. - Manager of the department is really cool and is a team leader. Really cares for the team - Good job to gain experience

Cons

- Peak season is a drag. 72hr weeks for ~11 weeks really takes a toll, and upper management doesn't really do anything to help. - The pay isn't all that great compared to other engineers in the Bay Area. - Certification testing follows the procedures of the client and regulatory agencies. There isn't much room to express creative thought. Mundane work. - Regional Manager doesn't have the interest of the employees, only of the client. Regional would go to the meeting as a yes man to the client without consulting the engineering leads. - Ever since UL Solutions went public, it doesn't feel like a safety company. They care more about how much money they can make or save than about the safety of the consumer product.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your thoughts. We are happy to hear that you work in a positive team environment where you feel cared about and that you have been able to gain positive experience. We understand that some may encounter longer working hours, especially during peak periods tied to customer deadlines. Although these situations are time‑limited and part of real project demands, we recognize that extended hours can be challenging and are not something we want to become the norm. We are actively exploring ways to better balance workload expectations, provide clearer guidance around work hours, and ensure managers have the tools to support healthy work practices. We appreciate this feedback.
