Pros
Honestly, I’m not sure that there are any pros to this job. It is just a foot in the door at a company that you may be able to advance within.
Cons
In this position, you are just the mouthpiece for every other department within the health plan who inevitably do not do their jobs. A provider will call and a request will have been sent to finance a month prior and there will still be no resolution. “Just tell them to allow 10-15 business days” is the standard response. Nobody will help you. Once you’re out of training, good luck! BE PREPARED TO ASK PERMISSION TO USE THE RESTROOM. And if you do not ask permission, be prepared to be questioned as to why you left your desk without permission. There WILL be mandatory overtime because they cannot staff the place fast enough for how quickly people choose to leave this terrible department. Do not expect any notice of this mandatory overtime, just an email the day before. Requesting time off is impossible. Only 2 people in the department are allowed to have time off approved on any given day. This job has absolutely no flexibility or positive aspects. I absolutely recommend that you continue pursuing other opportunities elsewhere.
