Great work/life balance, always accepting feedback to improve quality of work life, good people, leadership builds relationships with all levels of employees
Cons
Can be silos at times, advancement to more senior level type positions is political and not open to all qualified individuals
The staff are overall great, you get to help farmers, benefits are good and pay is decent
Cons
Each new administration brings with it pet projects that they often want accomplished under unrealistic timelines. Sometimes things such as staffing levels and work/life balance gets political. Poor performers rarely see any meaningful consequences. Pay is based on tenure rather than skill/performance. Pay raises that require an adjustment to the pay tables literally take an act of Congress.
