Pros

if you have a positive attitude and no experience you still can get hired, start wage is 14.50 to 15.00 an hr. schedule is usually 5 days on 2 off or 8 days on 4 off. Not really hard work except for rig in an out. The company itself is very positive everyone on my crew is chill, advancement is easy if your willing to stand out from the rest and work alittle bit harder than the rest and willing to shut your mouth and open your ears. Takes a couple weeks to get adjusted to 14-16 hours a day if your not used to it, hotels are paid, transportation is provided from the camp, $35 a day per diem paid end of each month. If you are hired count on a minimum of a month till you actually get in the field to work. They are a big company, with the exception of a few camps that closed, but still has a small company feel, where everyone knows you on a first name basis. Can make a lot of money in this industry if you can handle long hours, all types of weather, and willing to pay attention. Also $200 boot allowance, insurance kicks in after 75 days company match 401k. The good ole boy days are over, everyone for the most part is helpful and respectful.

Cons

Gotta meet at the camp and ride in crew van or mini bus, cannot drive personal vehicle to hotel. You need to rely on someone who is qualified to drive if you need to go anywhere. Also, even if you are close to home they tell you that you still need to stay at hotel. You have guys that don't pull there own weight and are lazy, but its over looked. There is favoritism but not as bad as it used to be. Even if you have experience you still start as a green hat, and must go threw SSE training school, and required to take 4 tests before you can obtain your grey hat within 6 months.

Pros

The job comes with a lot of freedom. A self-starter can get a lot accomplished as long as it does not require collaboration with mgmt or other departments. Almost all of the employees are pleasant with good intentions.

Cons

The job comes with a lot of freedom. A person with no drive can survive with the company for a very long time with no negative repercussions. Mgmt lacks the use of tools like job descriptions, evaluations, positive reinforcement, deliverables, measurables, deadlines, disciplinary action, etc. Benefits are sub-par, especially for new employees, specifically with vacation and sick time. Compensation is sub-par when compared with competitors. Most of all, there is a stark disconnect between corporate and field level personnel.
