Pros
There are good people who work there trying to make a difference. Unfortunately the culture is do as the CEO thinks and says and don't bother sharing your opinion because it doesn't matter.
Cons
Even though the groups are "independent" the structure of a holding company makes it very difficult to survive in these difficult economic times. Each group has to give up there best people to work on CEO projects, give a percentage of the revenue to support the management structure of the holding company and it leaves little left for the group to survive. The management structure is too hierarchical and the reporting structure is not effective.
