Pros

Work from home, work with great people, and the mission of improving access to education for those who don't have a physical school option is meaningful.

Cons

Tricky environment and hierarchies with regular restructuring. Don't get caught up in it. Just show up for the work.

Pros

Given the cross functional nature of roles, you pick up new skills quickly that are industry standard and contribute to professional growth. Colleagues are also some of the best I’ve worked with, all passionately committed to providing a quality educational alternative to brick and mortar schooling in South Africa.

Cons

I encountered many instances of nepotism, particularly concerning those closest to the CEO. Positions would be created for specific people (in some cases inexperienced and unqualified), and when those people left, the company would dissolve the role instead of backfilling, with no explanation. Similarly, certain individuals would be appointed to several different key leadership positions over a short period of time without a fair or transparent appointment process, while others would not be afforded the same opportunities for professional advancement. Generally leadership treats their staff as disposable, unless you have the right connections in the executive - in that case, you may be spared from the annual retrenchments caused by their soulless and needlessly aggressive business strategy. Leaving was the best decision I made.
