Pros

Smart, competent people and a very structured approach to solving problems and making decisions grounded in frameworks.

Cons

Turned out be be surprisingly negative experience; the only one in my career! The culture feels a bit like Hunger Games where everyone is basically just looking out for themselves. No incentives for teamwork or collaboration whatsoever. Managers/ leaders are encouraged to micro manage and are micro managed themselves at all levels. Too much emphasis on managing projects and individuals to unrealistic expectations/ deadlines v/s driving outcomes for customers and the business. There is zero autonomy and having a single owner or DRI is rare. There is always another person that is paired up to verify and evaluate how you are doing and this causes a ton of overhead trying to align on a unified approach to anything! Performance expectations are high and unrealistic from the get go. Especially for a complex domain like security and compliance. E.g. a junior engineer is expected to be fluent in the product and work across the tech stack within a couple of months of joining despite being hired as a "frontend engineer" . Why hire for domain specific experience if that's not valuable or aligned with the preference for how the company would prefer to execute. There is also an expectation to be always on and responsive at all times and all days of the week. It was not uncommon to get a new task assigned late Friday evening with a due date of Monday! To make matters worse, the compensation was completely not aligned with the work expectations! All I can say is that I am grateful to have experienced this company culture so I have better judgement for my next opportunity.

Pros

REALLY talented team here - very smart people who are also humble and approachable. Strong leadership bench. The company sets clear goals that they communicate them effectively so it's clear what we're marching towards together. Also, love that we're remote! Gives me a ton of work/life flexibility.

Cons

Normal start-up growth spurt changes - lots of hiring and changes with team structure for some orgs but it all feels natural to where we're at in our growth journey.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, decent work life balance

Cons

This place is incredibly dysfunctional. Every day feels draining. Toxic and rude coworkers, immature leadership, incompetent and ineffective management, inefficient processes... it's nearly impossible to get anything done without multiple layers of review and endless rounds of revisions. The bureaucracy is exhausting. Decisions are made in siloes and often walked back because they weren’t thought through properly to begin with. Information is shared selectively and you will often learn of things “through the grapevine”. Priorities, goals, metrics are nowhere to be found. There's little sense of culture and very little to no focus on employee experience, DEI, or anything beyond the bottom line. Many people come across as disengaged, transactional, and self-interested. Development opportunities are limited, and career and compensation growth are slow even for strong performers. Office politics are prevalent, employee concerns are rarely acted on, and meaningful feedback is rarely given or asked for. There is an overwhelming focus on AI, often without consideration of resource usage, output quality, or security implications, which is surprising given the industry. Usage is duplicative, disconnected, and directionless. I've honestly never felt less connected to my work. At some point, I found myself emotionally checking out just to preserve my own well-being.
