Pros

Compensation was good but benefits are getting worse this year Generally nice, smart people

Cons

Many products are not differentiated, making it hard to close sales Too many services & people heavy business units that are not scalable Frequent reorgs and changes in direction Too much short term focus on making features for existing customers vs. building for future Hired way too fast, leading to numerous layoffs

Thank you for leaving your review. We're glad to see that you appreciated your compensation package and your colleagues, which are common themes we hear on Glassdoor as well as in company surveys. We're sorry to hear that you felt less optimistic about the product portfolio and overall company direction. From a benefits perspective, we have just completed our first standalone Benefits Open Enrollment (apart and different from Google's benefits that we have had for the past several years). As you may have seen through the roadshows and Benefits presentations, we are offering a health plan that is very similar to the previous plan from both a coverage and a premiums perspective. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and share your feedback. We thank you for all you did while you were at Verily and wish you all the best in your next steps.

Pros

Work life balance is good, there are many smart people working here that do some incredible work.

Cons

Very flat org structure. Everyone is a senior engineer here. Leadership is very unclear in their direction and pay is at the bottom end of market. Poor management of the company financials has led to over a year of equity being completely missed and pre-existing equity being devalued by 90%. Office politicts are strong here and teams are very protective of their work. dont expect to move laterally or work on different projects here. the team you join is where you will stay.
