Pros

free food, some people are cool, good parties for holidays/sko

Cons

- No job security: leadership will fire you regardless of being on a PIP or not to save themselves. My entire sales org either left or (majority) got fired during my tenure. There is no room for career advancement unless you are blessed with one of the 3 good territories. - Zero WFH leniency: doesn't matter if your parent is dying or your house caught on fire yesterday. You'll be in the office tomorrow, or guilted about it. Several coworkers came in with the flu or COVID as there was no option otherwise. - Unattainable quotas: the quotas are not set from a historical analysis of the territory. The territories are split geographically and there are set quotas across the board for all of sales. It does not matter if the quota in the territory has never been hit - they will split this patch down the middle, give it to a new rep wrapped in a platinum bow, and tell them to chase the "limitless opportunity".. despite there never being previous success. - Bro culture galore: the leadership team is enthralled by the bro-iest bros who have seem to be the only reps with job security. The girls that thrive are pick-me's. It's honestly embarrassing the way the leaders (especially the women leaders) speak with the bros on the floor. Senior leadership sees this culture as ideal as they dream of living out the life they never could in college. - False promises of a change of culture since the publicity scandal: misogyny runs thick on the sales floor and throughout the office. Now everyone's just forced to speak under their breath.

Pros

-Exceptional autonomy and ownership from day one — you'll have real budget, real responsibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact without hand-holding -The work is genuinely interesting, especially for events and marketing roles with large-scale programs and cross-functional exposure -Verkada as a company is investing in culture and it shows — there's visible effort at the organizational level -Strong learning environment for self-starters who thrive in fast-paced, figure-it-out settings

Cons

-Hustle culture is not just encouraged — it's expected, and it flows directly from senior leadership. Work-life balance is essentially non-existent on the marketing team -The CMO is deeply in the weeds, which creates a trickle-down effect across the team. If you're hoping for strategic leadership and visibility from above, you may be disappointed -Manager availability is inconsistent at best. If you need regular 1:1 time and mentorship to feel supported, this environment will be discouraging -In-office culture is celebrated in San Mateo, but remote/field employees are largely an afterthought on the marketing team. The culture doesn't extend meaningfully outside HQ -Pay increases and promotions are rare. Don't expect to be rewarded for strong performance on any predictable timeline -No care or acknowledgement for excessive hours working, traveling, being away from home
