Pros
Vermont Information Processing has a fabulous ESOP program. If you like to be married to your job, being available 24x7 you can advance quickly at VIP. There are some really great people that work there. The location is great, close to the interstate. Many of the employees exercise during lunch. They often walk, run, bike and walk.
Cons
The culture is extremely difficult. There are a couple of managers that are excellent and treat their employees like human beings, others treat their employees much more like objects which can be easily replaced. The company doesn't believe in yearly reviews. They also don't believe in giving raises or cost of living increases. They will increase the rates to their customers however they don't feel the need to pass any of that on to their employees. There is a definite split culture at VIP. The men play basketball with the CEO. It sets up a situation where women are at a disadvantage. No training, no incentive to work harder etc. The employees who have been around for a long time are heavily invested in the ESOP. They want to protect their interest at all cost. Those in management will not fight for their employees. (with 2 exceptions) Communications need improvement on all levels.
