Pros

Great people. Awesome environment. It was that job I actually looked forward to go to in the morning, and is very rare to have!! And that's coming from someone who has worked from home for 3 years and knows what freedom feels like! Amazing boss who actually teaches his team and believes in team building for getting through heavy projects and would make sure there's downtime so we could be productive again and not burn out. If you're a developer you know how important that is. I've got the entrepreneurial spiritual and am used to having ceos as clients in the past. If I didn't have that experience I would say management could be disorganized sure...but from what I know...you can only figure out organically what works, and these guys are figuring it out. Their technology's incredible. I know I have a different approach than some here, but I'd take that ceo over any I've worked with in the past, he's the best kind - sure he could be shrude, but hey! He took his company public, made sure employees had bbqs every friday and kept a high moral.

Cons

The coffee sucked...to the point I quit drinking it

Pros

I wish I could say that there were positives. It seemed like there would be when i started, but after a while it became clear that things are not always as they seem. I wasn't even going to bother with a review, but some dodgy practices have come to light as of recent and I want to make sure people know what they are getting into before the decide to work for SoMedia.

Cons

It is true, management is disorganized with constantly shifting priorities and blame always being passed to the lowest person on the pay scale. Former employees have been bad-mouthed by management to other people in the industry. This leaves many current employees afraid to quit. They are genuinely afraid that the higher-ups will try to ruin their reputation. Money is always tight - as is with any start-up. But this tight money leads to late paycheques, dodgy accounting practices, and a genuine disregard for employee well-being. Overtime is expected and not properly compensated. I have experienced management asking for a positive online review from current and former employees.
