Pros
When I just meet with Village Farms upper management I was thrill. The two Europeans that interviewed me, have vast experience in greenhouses and hydroponics, they seem very open to train professional women and work as a team. They interviewed me with two other graduates from Davis University and Cal Poly agriculture schools. The greenhouses structures and systems are the best in their kind. Being a young company, the opportunities seem limitless for a fully bilingual agronomist. The interview process was very positive. Good vacations and holidays. Company paid my move from out of state.
Cons
CEO out of touch. Mostly uneducated co-workers defending their turf, no information sharing. Complicity and favoritism. Management gives opportunities to males and places women in the back row. Huge nepotism at this facility. No growth or development; tried to move to other facilities/departments with no success. Workers are motivated based on fear or money. Encouragement or praise are unknown. Maintenance team poorly trained. Negative environment for someone professional with a college degree or female.
