Great Company to Work for Still Growing - Engineer Vision Point Systems Employee Review

Pros

The work life balance is un-matched. As a corrosion, materials or mechanical engineer on the government services side you will work on multiple projects which keeps things interesting. The pay and benefits are great, I haven't heard anyone complain about those. During the pandemic the company did follow CDC guidelines and let employees safely work from home. The culture is more laid back than other big contract companies, so your stress level will not be incredibly high. Also the company is growing steadily and that's a huge plus.

Cons

Being a small company, sometimes management does not get it right. There are communication issues throughout and sometimes things rapidly change without warning. The organization of the company needs some work. It seems that with all the client projects no one has time to focus on building the foundation of the company and getting structures organized. There isn't much training for new employees on client relationships. Suggestions made at reviews will only be considered for a moment and management might make changes, but the changes mostly fall through the cracks and it's back to square one.

Pros

The company as a whole is great, but I specifically worked on the commercial side of the business, with Appian. Overall: - Great group of people (not just the commercial side, either) - Very transparent - Hard-working and proud of what has been accomplished - Upper management is very active and likes to be knowledgeable of what's going on - Work with Fortune 100 companies - Implement projects through full SDLC - Tremendous room for growth Everyone at VPS cares about their work and appreciates the effort that each member puts in, which in turn perpetuates the drive for each member to do more/better.

Cons

Not too many, it depends on what you make of consulting. - Easy to feel "lost" when you first start.. often times a new hire fills a slot in an existing project that doesn't have any VPS team members on. (Caveat - I believe that is changing with the growth) - Can be tough to schedule vacation(s) when going from project to project
