Pros

Their outcomes are amazing. They've helped kids and families with some really challenging circumstances. "Draw water from a stone" is the picture I keep getting. When there is conflict it tends to get dealt with. A number of staff members have their own kids at the Learning Center, which I think increases that family mentality. Compensation for teachers is far and above other opportunities in preschools, mostly because there are kids with challenging behaviors and needs. Diversity is really strong, both in staff and families served.

Cons

I've seen some teachers who have gotten a bit jaded or grumpy, but on the whole everyone people are compassionate and patient, with the kids and with each other. It definitely sucks that the Learning Center is in the basement, so it's sort of dingy and poorly lit.

Pros

i love the mission. Families are offered childcare for free which allows them to attend school or go to work. They are supported with housing, food assistance, therapy ( mental, speech, OT), rent, and of course a community. They accept single parent/ low income families. Many families are escaping abuse, homelessness, and cycles of trauma/ poverty. I love the mission and so many are better of because the village exists. They pay very well as well for a preschool salary in Denver.

Cons

It can be overwhelming at times considering student behaviors due to age and trauma. You feel unsupported at times, especially since it is a nonprofit and it can be hard to have everyone's needs met on a budget. There are also cockroaches and we cannot get rid of them =[
