Supportive culture with broad client base - Audit Manager Wipfli Employee Review

Pros

I feel like the Company actually cares about a work-life balance and cares for their employees. Deadlines are deadlines, but people are willing to jump in and help with engagements. Scheduling is a bit more flexible, whereas other firms want to have a rigid 24-week-out schedule that doesn't allow for much sway if clients aren't ready for us. The partners/managers bake in "wrap up" time in the schedules of all employees to allow for clean-up work to actually get done, instead of just having everything fall to the manager.

Cons

Compensation is decent, so I can't really complain. Some of the clients are not very complex/large and are not as clean as some I'm used to working with. There are changes in firm software that should become a net positive, but right now there are the usual growing pains. The firm is understanding of the issues when converting to new processes, though.

Pros

I think that even for a job where you expect to work the crazy long hours during busy season, Wipfli does a great job at showing they care about the well-being of their employees during this time. I have constantly had different individuals throughout Wipfli reach out to me during busy season to see how I was doing mentally. Knowing that individuals care is a big part in being able to get through a stressful time of the work year. The catered lunches we receive during this time is also another example of showing that the Company cares about the well-being of their employees. It gives each office a great time to enjoy some quality lunches and bring social interaction to each of the offices. I also think Wipfli is a great Company to work for outside of busy season, when the hours slow down and work is less stressful. It's encouraged to take time off, reset, and enjoy the summer weather. Wipfli understands that everyone needs to hit the reset button after a long, stressful period of time. I interned the summer before I started full-time as an associate, and sometimes Employers during internships like to play-up the Company and not always show it's true colors. I can honestly say that during my time as an intern and when I started full-time this year, the way I have been treated, the culture, the workplace environment, and the overall caring of Wipfli has been consistently great the entire time.

Cons

Like any job in public accounting, the hours are long and they can be stressful.
