Pros
- heartwarming experiencing working with children and babies - some nursery's are nice and welcoming
Cons
- not paid enough for the hours for amount of work that you do in nursery's - most nursery's are not welcoming of agency staff - some nursery's are concerning with the treatment towards the children and babies - no reimbursement for travel apart from car, which is still very little - you have to stay on call 7-10am even on days you are not working - getting sicks days will be common as you will contract illness from kids - it is hard to get days off, even when giving 1 day advance notice, which they ask for - some nursery's send you home hours earlier than scheduled which means you get less pay - if you leave earlier, you don't get your lunch, even after working for 6+ hours - you only get 30 min break in a full day (10 hour) shift: this is unethical and most likely illegal - most nursery's treat you differently because you are 'agency' so it can be hard to get along comfortably - some nursery's like to make you do extra work because they know you are agency
