Pros

There were some friendly teammates.

Cons

The company's professed values sound good and look nice on a slide, but they don't align with the reality of working here. Despite what the company policy claims, bullying is tolerated. I reported bullying to my supervisor and it was met with platitudes such as "that's just the way that person is" and "focus on relationships with other people in the company." The CEO talks a good game about how the company is a "rocket ship". He says things like, "not everyone wants to be on a rocket ship so some people won't make it here." He simultaneously acknowledges openly that the employee net promoter score is low and that he made poor decisions by putting people who aren't servant leaders into people management positions within the last year or two. He seems to think he has course corrected; but there are still bad apples in the bunch. The CEO talks about how he created and sold multiple companies worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars over the past 30 years; but somehow in those experiences, he seems to have neglected to learn how to build a team of leaders who can create an atmosphere where their colleagues are valued, heard, and appreciated. People want to be led, not micromanaged. For a company that talks about how they create smiles for the recipients of their gift cards, there don't seem to be many people working here who are smiling. There is frequent bickering and finger pointing within and between the SBUs (Strategic Business Units). The company is constantly moving people to different positions, different SBUs, or cutting positions. Earlier this year, within the span of about two months, 10-15% of the employees either left or were let go. There seems to be an undercurrent of distrust woven through parts of the organization where people are constantly looking over their shoulder or assuming the worst about their colleagues.

Pros

People The benefits are solid, the pay is competitive, and there's a strong culture of collaboration across teams. The executive team is also notably supportive and accessible, which contributes to a sense of alignment and trust throughout the organization. Most people respect and enjoy working for their Executive Leader.

Cons

Too many meetings Lots of reporting Lack of autonomy BUT if you are organized enough, you make all that part of your routine. Once trust is earned things tend to shift. No company is perfect, but if you believe in what you are doing you can understand the reasoning behind certain decisions. The CEO makes it clear that if you are not happy then you should leave, so people do then come to glassdoor and post negative reviews. As they say: hurt people hurt people.
