Good company, but management needs some work - Technical Support Engineer Wonderware Employee Review

Pros

Good pay, people are friendly enough, and other employees will answer most questions. Environment is professional, but also laid back enough to not be stuffy. Training material is available and extra classes are available, and management will most of the time grant access to those.

Cons

Management needs to take a look at how it provides feedback to employees. They have a yearly review for each employee, but beyond that there is NO feedback unless YOU ask for it. So you can be falling behind where they want you, or not be doing something right, and you won't find out til you get yelled at or fired. Not a whole lot of potential upward movement, and some people will sometimes deliberately try to make you feel stupid when you ask a question.

Pros

Fast pace. Always something new to learn, never bored. Great management, very supportive.

Cons

There's a lot to learn about this industry if you're not familiar with it. It will take a year or so to become comfortable with the terminology and technology.

Pros

The buildings are pleasant. There is an onsite gym. Some people are competent.

Cons

It's a personality driven company. If you are well liked, you can go far, regardless of your level of competence. If the cool kids don't like you, you will not be successful. Project planning is fiction, historical data about previous projects is not considered, all estimates are revised by higher-ups, resulting in all projects being delayed and employees urged to work harder than the 60 hours a week they currently work.
