Good pay but poor management and long shifts - Front End Cashier Woolworths Group Employee Review

Pros

- Good pay if your willing to do the hours - Good sick leave balances (provided you don't get sick for weeks) - Very stable job outlook, basically if you can do the hours; then you'll be fine, and if you want for years and years. - Very, very hard to get terminated unless you are purposefully doing something stupid, reckless, illegal or dumb. - Really good benefits across BWS, BIG W, and other Woolworths Group brands.

Cons

- Cliquey managers and supervisors - Favoritism (the minute a team member becomes a supervisor; not manager; supervisor, they'll act like they own the store and will push you around) - Management couldn't care less about how long you've worked for Woolworths Group; they'll promote someone to Supervisor who's only joined 3 months ago, and refuse to for you who's worked there for 4 years. - No recognition for the back bending work we do on a daily basis. - Managers have a tendency to not trust people enough, treat us like children, horrible for self esteem. - Approval is required on POS for useless stuff (ie. gift card thresholds, etc) - POS is slow and annoying to use. - VOT (Voice of Team) is only used to bully and belittle any staff member who submits them; they'll try and figure out who submitted it; instead of focusing on 'how do we improve?', NOT WORTH IT! - You'll be likely 'tethered' to a checkout lane for up to 5+ hours without a break; we rarely swap checkouts. Supervisors/Managers will randomly come around at some point asking for you to take a break, or will just forget. - Short breaks, you'll only get 15 minutes for 4-6 hours, 30 minutes 6-10 hours. They'll only give hour breaks for 8-10+ hour shifs to Managers. - Your legs and feet will be the ones most to suffer, aside from the of the job, it's the same stuff every day deja vu, every hour, every day. - Management forget that there's a whole world outside of Woolworths. - Bullying is rampant and frequent, exclusion also happens. - God forbid you take one sick leave day, you'll be asked to submit a Medical Certificate; casual or not. Guilt tripping, is frequent if you ask for sick leave. - Long, long shifts to earn any decent amount of money at the very costly expense of your mental wellbeing, physical health.
