Pros
When I started at Woopra, my initial objective was to establish a marketing foundation that would allow us to grow and scale in the years to come. Reporting directly to the CEO put me in a unique position to learn from his expertise, collaborate across departments and gain an in-depth understanding of what it takes to build an organization. I’ve been in a marketing type role for 10+ years, but last year expressed the desire to move into a Partnerships function. After a deep conversation with our CEO discussing my career and growth goals, I was tasked with building out what this role might look like at Woopra and how I could contribute. Six months later, he promoted me to the Head of Partnerships role. I don’t think I would have ever had the opportunity to drastically switch career paths had it not been for the guidance and opportunity I’ve found here at Woopra. As a female in a leadership position, I feel blessed to have found a company that does not discriminate, supports my career and provides ongoing learning opportunities. The whole team is incredibly passionate and I’m inspired every day by their dedication and commitment to building this company and product.
Cons
This is definitely company where you're expected to be autonomous. You should thrive in the build vs. manage stage of an organization and be willing to help out other departments when necessary to GSD. We're still learning a lot and working together to establish the best processes across the team. If you're used to having everything already established, packaged and ready to go - it might be hard for you to adapt to this type of environment.
