I have worked for many organizations over the previous 20 years and company environments like this are few and far between. Every HR department I have been a part of was full of politics, disgruntled employees, backstabbing, too much seriousness in demeanor, mad-dogging, bullying, and a feeling and atmosphere of daily walking on eggshells. Job security was never sure and as far as being appreciated for the work anyone did and receiving a good job compliment, if you are the type of person that needs that affirmation, that was non-existent at my other companies and specifically the HR departments more so. I used to work between 10-14 hour days without any supervisor caring about my work-life balance; instead asking me to do more and sacrifice my personal time. I am no robot and no one deserved to be treated like that. So I moved on from one place to another and during my research I found this company, Worklogic HR.
I did my interviews, which were an absolutely great experience. Great vibe from those I interviewed with, easy to talk to, they asked relevant and practical questions, and were speedy in their follow up, interview schedule, and on-boarding process. Their HRIS system made on-boarding fast and easy, and the welcoming by all employees at the company was very warm and inviting. It certainly made a good impression.
The company has gone through its growing pains, of course, as all do, but these pains will take the company one way or another. Thankfully, our growing pains have resulted in a very positive transformation and growth, including future outlook for increasing success, which all of us here, as well as prospective employees, can be a part of, not as witnesses, but actually having ownership in it.
Speaking about Pros:
Sure, the building is cutting edge; the trainings are by far the best employment/HR/business-related trainings you will ever get here in Kern County, and competitive to any down south and up north, allowing you to further your knowledge and growth in HR and employment laws; as was mentioned by another individual, the massages, full-size gym open all day every day and with a personal trainer 3 days a week, there was yoga class as well, quarterly birthday lunches where we all go to a restaurant of our choice together, a monthly employee appreciation hangout that gives you a work-life balance feel while you're at work! -plus, the work-life balance is unprecedented; a very impressive positive is that management staff is extremely available, approachable, helpful, knowledgeable, willing to teach and train you, easy to speak to with TRUE open-doors (never had that of management staff at ANY company), employees giving an award cup of appreciation from one to another weekly - telling everyone at the company why they are being given the award; great A/C, lighting, offices, cubicles, etc.
The environment is a huge factor for me because of the dictatorships and walking on eggshell environments I've worked at before. Both down south and here in Kern County, I worked at large and mid-sized companies...I have not found a place as comfortable as this where I am never dreading to be at my job because of the place I work at and the people I work with. Although the job-related work can be challenging or difficult, I can feel at peace and actually happy working, which is a really strange feeling. Is there stress? Sure, if there wasn't, it wouldn't be HR! But the fact that Worklogic HR has this type of family environment, it removes any of the company or social stressors, and leaves me to concentrate on my work. We are also not micro-managed, which gives us confidence and ownership in our jobs, allowing us to actually further our growth and knowledge, and to do the job more enthusiastically, increasing productivity. When we fall short of the knowledge piece, we simply seek assistance from, as I said previously, our very available management.
As one in a family of business owners, it can be easy for me to be critical of bosses, owners, their actions, and their plans for the company. I did not pay attention to what our owner was up to as I instead spent time learning and perfecting my job, but once I began to concern myself with the future of the company and my role, I started to gain an interest in the plans and actions of our President here. I can honestly say that over the past year and a half, I have grown in my appreciation of our President's vision for the company and all the time and work he has put in at every area and department, as well as all the one-one-one and group communications he has had with us. Often you won't have any clue as to what the higher-ups are up to, nor what their vision and goals are for the future of the company, but our President (Jeff Thorn), has freely shared relevant things with me, and I am not even in management. He can seem a little too direct at times, but he is always respectful and professional, and a dominant personality is what a company needs in order to be directed and led towards growth. He has taken the time to personally meet with each employee, allowing us to ask any questions we had for him, and he answered every one of my questions honestly and openly. He was also very supportive and gave thanks for the work that we do here at the company, on a personal level That really builds trust and it makes me more confident in our company and my future here. I am truly excited to see where we're headed.
The benefits are great for employee only plans and the 401k has the best match you can get (same as the big companies). We also have a birthday club where you can have $5 taken from your check each pay period and once your birthday comes, the company will match the amount you put in. That has helped me a ton.
