Pros
Working on collaborative teams with colleagues that are technically very strong. It is an intellectually stimulating environment. There are many knowledge sharing and cultural events that provide opportunities for networking and rapport building.
Cons
Difficult to get a permanent contract. Most common staff contract is fixed term. So you have to wait to see if you will be reconfirmed /renewed every 2.5 years. Most fixed term positions are also dependent on the amount of financing raised to be able to keep you on. There are many changes. You need to be resilient and adaptable .
