Not worth it - Operations Supervisor Zenith Global Logistics Employee Review

Pros

Decent starting wage (now) with bonus potential. (Potential being the key word) Employees will work hard for you as long as you are fair to them. As how it should be everywhere. But not all management is a "people person"

Cons

As a supervisor, poor work/life balance. You work 60+ hour weeks, and get your schedules one week at a time. And when you do get the next weeks schedule, it's at the last possible second. (Late Friday or even Saturday.) Upper management has no idea how busy their supervisors truly are and are constantly adding more objectives and tasks to do on a daily basis, without taking anything away to try to help balance the workload. Absolutely NO room for advancement. The company will bring in outsiders to fill a job before it's even announced the position was open. Therefore nobody currently employed can express interest. They have upped the starting salary but that means they will hire in new supervisors at the same salary that a supervisor that has been there for a couple years is making now. Salary is now "negotiable" l, which is good for anyone coming in, but anyone that has been here for a bit is stuck and getting short changed. Their years experience means squat. There was talk of upping the salary of veteran supervisors but that quickly went away.

Pros

Benefits and Compensation are great for employees. Employees can and will make good money. Steady industry. Cannot think of anything else good.

Cons

Employees are not welcoming of new hires. Work is heavy labor and does require new employees to work every weekend for a couple of years. High turnover rate in new hires makes it hard to establish relationships with employees. Causes supervisors to have to continually training new hires and supervisors. Closed on 3 days will have to work Thanksgiving and Christmas Night. Leadership expects supervisors to work 12 hour days and micromanage employees. Decisions are made top down no collaboration. No culture established at this site because senior management dictate changes from afar. No opportunity for advancement or mentorship. No set schedules for supervisor so it is very hard to make plans for the next month.
