Pros

There is huge room for career growth here. Every month and quarter, there are new roles that open up in new segments and business functions. Like anywhere else, it's what you bring to the table and the genuine relationships you build with people that matter most. Zoom is no different in that regard. That being said, there is (almost) zero office politics here. The leaders and people here truly care and want you to succeed, whatever career path you want. I've felt supported and valued from Day 1, and have never felt that I was competing for attention with my peers. Zoom gives you a voice and they listen that voice. The pay and compensation is above average for the industry and respective regions. The management structure is very flat and leaders are so very accessible & approachable. The culture here and onboarding is very unique. I can't speak highly enough of it, it's just something you've got to experience yourself to understand. If you join the rocketship that is Zoom, don't worry about where you're sitting - we're all going to the moon. Don't come here if you're not ready to hustle though - We don't work 40-hour weeks, and that's surprisingly not a "Con" at all.

Cons

The Cons are few, but they're there. No 401k match or tuition reimbursement. Only 12 days of PTO (!?) But that will likely be changing to some degree soon enough.

Pros

Native C++ client Bar is low for being a domain expert - knowledge the average Silicon Valley engineer should have is somehow in short supply there, so it's easier to stand out Pay was OK, while it lasted

Cons

Repeated rounds of layoffs, with departed colleagues' work being heaped on those remaining, left everyone miserable and stressed and just waiting for when our turn is next. My boss actually announced development was shifting to "startup mode", and when I asked if that means more upside or flexibility or equity or any of the other reasons you may choose a startup over a large established company, the answer was, "no, just more work" (!?!) Serious culture and power divide between overseas and California based development teams. Zero career growth investment in employees; no training or conferences except those offered by Zoom. Fired entire DEI team CEO attended Melania's movie premier
