Pros
They are desperate for hires. They offer a great compensation and RSU package.
Cons
It's been over a year and a half since I left Zscaler but I continue to see the harm that this organization has done to my friends and former colleagues. Many of these glassdoor reviews are written by others who have just joined. But as I once read in another review, "the devil is in the details". The best way to compare Zscaler is to a cult or an extremely toxic relationship. When you join, you are welcomed with open arms. The excitement is overwhelming! Welcome emails, packages, onboarding, you feel like you've finally found a great team! But then it starts... the small criticisms, the politics, and the finger pointing. When you think you've done great work, no, you could have done xyz-abc better. Losing deals happen; this can be because of existing relationships, pricing, and also how the AT treated the customer. Zscaler comes in with an arrogant attitude in many cases. They are not well respected in the partner community. Many customers don't like "humble swagger" treatment they get. What this means is that you can't and won't always win, but let me tell you, when you lose the leadership team is pretty quick to point out your flaws despite the fact they've been involved in the process from the beginning. I've seen GREAT reps who have done amazing work with certain accounts, but as soon as they lose one opp they are kicked out the door. Zscaler is the only place where I've seen colleagues end up in the emergency room due to stress. Zscaler is the only place where most former Z workers I speak with talk as if they've experienced trauma. Z is the only place where, one day you can be on top of the world and doing amazing work (i.e. heavily recognized, going to club, etc), the next day you are a "culture problem" and ejected from the company. To quantify how bad of an environment Zscaler is, I know of MANY colleagues who have left hundreds of thousands in unvested RSUs because it is that awful of a place to work at. The worst part is? This feedback has been given to the Zscaler folks many times. I took over for a long time employee who left after seeing how awful the environment had become. When I left, I gave a list of reasons why Zscaler is not a great place to work. I later connected with the employee I took over for and guess what? Their feedback was quite similar. The lack of accountability is disgusting. Zscaler turns good people into bad people, or the good ones leave before they are too corrupted. Our feedback is ignored, despite the fact the turnover rate is so high. If you're approached by Zscaler, do not just ask the managers and interviewers about the culture there. I was warned about Zscaler's culture, but the hiring manager assured me it had improved with recent leadership changes. I can tell you, it has not. Do a deep look on LinkedIn. If you have others in your network that have worked there or have been there a few months, ask them for their candid feedback. If you don't, look at the history of previous employees. You'll see an extremely high turn over rate, with many individuals leaving within a year. Ask them why. Most are not wiling to shy away from the poor treatment they've received. Zscaler was way ahead of its time when it came out. The pandemic gave an entryway for Zscaler to become a leader in the market. Zscaler acts as if it's still the only SASE vendor in the market, and as such, they believe that the product can just sell itself. The prices have been increasing every year and customers are no longer happy. They will offer a lot of money and RSUs to attract you. But the reality is, it is an awful organization to work for. This is a leadership issue stem right from the top and needs to be fixed. Until then, for your mental health and safety, I would not consider an offer from Zscaler. Especially if it is in the area of sales or support. Zscaler could offer me $10,000,000 a year in OTE and I would still run. It is a place that leaves such a horrifying impression on you, that you will feel the anger and hurt for years. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Ask former Zscaler employees that left. Ask the former award-winning Zscaler employees why they are no longer there. What you will hear are tales of trauma and manipulation. I held off from posting this review because the industry is small. But I'm tired of seeing the damage Zscaler has caused and continues to cause to my friends and former colleagues. GET DALI OUT. Get REAL HR. And start acknowledging the fact there IS a problem and not everyone that leaves is a "culture problem."
