Pros

The coworkers were very friendly. The company provided time at work to study for the Series 7 and 63.

Cons

There is no room to move within the company. I was informed that I had to stay at my position for an indefinite period of time, even though another department was interested in hiring me. Also, lots of other departments will cold transfer calls to tech support, even if there is no tech issue. A large amount of the calls to tech support are complaints.

Pros

Teaching and coaching others on a wide range of investment topics forces a lot of learning. This learning is reinforced by trading yourself on a monthly basis or more frequently. The topics covered ranged from a superficial look fundamental analysis to an in-depth look at technical analysis. Advanced certifications such as CMT chartered market technician or CFA chartered financial analyst were encouraged and you were reimbursed for the cost of obtaining such designations. Knowing where to find and how to use information found on the internet was also required and continues to be a very useful skill. One final benefit you can in contact with a lot of co-workers with whom you could form a strong network.

Cons

Shrinking industry, limited upside, low quality of upper management.
