Great people, bad management

Pros

Great people working on the front lines.

Cons

Managers promoted beyond their level of competence. Tendency to create homogenized teams with boringly similar personalities and skill sets. Failure to recognize efficient use of time and talent versus lauding those who work 24 hours a day.

Pros

Staff is friendly and pleasant to work with. A lot of flexibility on how to do your work. You are given ownership of an area of work and it is up to you to figure out what needs to be done and how to get it done on a tight schedule.

Cons

Lacks integrity - promised stock options, but they disappeared and nobody would give an honest answer on what the status was (always redirected to ask some other dept). Poor management - seems to perpetually remain in fire-fighting mode and work gets thrown at you at the last minute, and it needs to be done right away (cutting into personal time). Software platform is a decade old and needs to be brought up-to-date, but it is a huge & undocumented mess which is constantly expanding. Poor quality control.

Demoralizing

Pros

Corporate atmosphere got better when Seth Bernstein left. He pushed his Republican views on employees and sexually harassed the women. At least the executives who replaced him didn't do that.

Cons

Poor benefits, terrible HR department, combative management personalities, faulty products, no support or encouragement to succeed and improve, almost no communication between departments
