    Pros

    - Lots of opportunity for growth, your voice will be heard regardless of position, trusted to lead important projects early on in your career - Fun place and good working environment, friendly coworkers, casual dress code, free food and snacks - Good work life balance, doesn't matter how early or how late your arrive as long as your work is getting done - Best IT support of any company I have worked for, need new hardware or equipment just ask - Great building/office space, standing desks, in the heart of Kendall Square - New leadership have been hired in the past year, very competent and will certainly help the company to continue growing - Solid pay in line with market, great benefits and unlimited PTO

    Cons

    - Growing pains of a start up, processes need work and sometimes there is no process at all and you might need to be the one who creates it - Depending on the team but it's hard to disconnect from work, getting an email or slack message after hours or on the weekend is not unusual - The company wants to be a market place for insurance to help consumers, but the day to day work seems disconnected from that vision, instead we're a lead generator - Some of the comments from consumers online describe the company as a "scam", not a pleasant things to read if you want to work for a company with a mission

    Advice to Management

Make sure to maintain the startup feel that the company has, it is a fun and exciting place to work and hopefully it won't change. Work on the product, we should be more transparent with our consumers and make sure that they have an amazing experience.

    Pros

Cold Brew, Tuesday Lunch, Beer on Tap, mini chocolate chip muffins, 4 levels of stairs for periodic mini workouts, work friends quickly become friends you don’t work with.

    Cons

Fact 1, questions about low company morale have been brought up several times, and sweep under the carpet. Fact 2: Techies are treated like Gods, and Sales are the ugly step child. Fact 3- Don’t read Better Business Reviews about EverQuote. Fact 4) VP of sales position is a revolving door, 4th time is a charm, probably not..Fact 5; the HR department is huge. Fact #6 If you believe this company is disrupting a 900 Trillion industry, you are right, EQ is scamming thousands of insurance agents and millions of insurance buyers. And those online ads...

    Pros

Collaborative + supportive work environment. You can have as much responsibility as you can handle. In my experience here I found that if you are interested in a certain project your manager will take that into account and do their best to get you involved. If you have an idea of how to do something better and can back it up with research, people will listen and you'll be encouraged to run with it. All in all this is a great place for learning and it genuinely feels like a community learning environment. As others have mentioned, free snacks, activities and daytime-clubs like beer tasting and knitting club are a part of the organization. This helps you meet new people outside your own team. The company actively analyzes their hiring practices and compensation packages to make sure people within similar roles are being paid fairly. Additionally, EQ has a Women Tech Forum where women in the company can have an open discussion about different workplace topics (someone from HR is usually present). I feel that deserves a special mention because, while most people are aware that tech is a male-dominated industry, few companies take active steps to give their female workers a voice to openly discuss gender dynamics in the workplace. Kudos to the HR team on that one.

    Cons

Many management roles are filled by people who can do the tech work but don't know how to manage. This is acknowledged by almost everyone and so they are trying to hire more experienced managers from outside. Sometimes it felt as though there are too many routine meetings, many of which were formalities that rarely led to new information. Roles should be more defined so it is clearer who should and shouldn't be attending those meetings.

    Pros

Great Co-workers - Typical young, tech company, employees typically hang out outside of work. Everyone is friendly and eager to help with issues Great Benefits - Health and dental 100% paid for by company, Great 401K with matching, Commuter benefits subsidized parking or free T pass. Fun Culture - lots sponsored of events for employees to attend outside of work Lots of Free Food - Free lunch once a week, free snacks in office, beer and coffee on tap Great Location - Right near Kendall and Central Great Work Life Balance and interesting work.

    Cons

Young management team - Typical of all relatively new tech companies where things are moving fast and people are promoted really young. This is being fixed; in the last few months there have been a bunch of senior people hired and I am excited to see where they can make an impact

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire bright senior people

    Pros

From a development perspective this place has great training. Sometimes it's irrelevant but its good overall for general knowledge. They also have opportunities to go to conferences which is great for experience and beefing up your resume. There is room for strategic attacks.

    Cons

They set the expectation that goals would adjust in 2018. There was too much movement in my opinion. Things are more transparent now then ever but thats not saying a whole lot because it was terrible before.

    Advice to Management

Things are moving in the right direction. I'd rethink raising the goal as often as you did in 2018. Also, everything that is consumer facing is brutal.

    Pros

Well stocked kitchen, matching 401k, paid benefits.

    Cons

Where to start. The above Pro's are nice, however not worth it.. -Hardly any incentive/commission for performance -Zero organization from sales management up to VP leadership -Mishandling of sales targets and goals/quotas that change from quarter to quarter -Treated like a child, leaving little room for "life" to occur -Zero culture Reps are trained to pitch "we spend 10 million marketing $'s every month on google" to benefit the Insurance Agent but the marketing spend is never there and the product isn't very good for the agent. Find another entry level sales position

unlimited pto decent pay 401k match is alright

Priorities shift way too much to the point where you're left wondering what the point of the company is. No structure or career development Not transparent. Always trying to put out fires rather than advancing and solving problems. Managers are too young and are inexperienced.
