Pros

Interesting Projects: Despite the toxic environment, some of the projects were creatively stimulating and provided opportunities for professional growth. Great Clients: Client teams were what kept the daily challenges at bay - clients made the work day pleasant - you almost wish you worked at those companies. Talented Colleagues: Despite the challenging atmosphere, there were a handful of very talented and dedicated colleagues who made the workplace somewhat bearable. But as an account director, I would fight for my team to get more recognition, promotion, and praise and it always fell flat.

Cons

Toxic Leadership: The young founders' condescending, pretentious, and manipulative behavior created a toxic work environment, making it difficult to thrive professionally or emotionally. Felt like a WeWork documentary. Boys Club Mentality: The workplace culture promoted a boys club mentality, where favoritism was rampant, and opportunities for advancement were often based on personal connections and long-time friendships rather than merit. Operational Challenges Ignored: Instead of addressing operational challenges head-on, the leadership chose to sweep them under the rug, leading to inefficiencies and frustrations among the staff. Low Morale: The pervasive toxicity and favoritism led to low morale among many employees. Lack of Professionalism: Despite attempts to appear "cool" and "hip," leadership lacked professionalism and maturity, undermining the credibility of the company. They often did not even understand the roles in which they were managing. Unpredictable Atmosphere: Walking into the office each day felt like entering a battlefield, as you never knew which version of the founders you would encounter, leading to heightened stress and anxiety. Lax Leadership: While the founders focused on maintaining a facade of coolness, their leadership was lax and ineffective, resulting in a lack of direction and accountability within the company. Disingenuous Image: The company's attempt to portray itself as "cool" and "hip" felt disingenuous, as it was merely a facade to mask the toxic reality of the workplace. Lack of Transparency: There was a significant lack of transparency from the leadership regarding company decisions and direction, leaving employees feeling out of the loop and disconnected.

Cliquey culture, uncompetitive salary, aloof leadership

Pros

Team tends to hover around 25-30 and there are some standout individuals who are great people. Bi-quarterly company meet ups. Great office in DUMBO. Clients are generally very cool and the work is interesting. Most work is beverage-focused. The biggest client is Proximo Spirits, then Mountain Dew.

Cons

Leadership plays clear favorites. If you're not one of them, kiss any upward trajectory goodbye. The core leadership team have all known each other for a long time and are good friends, which makes it extremely difficult to give constructive criticism. They protect their own, even when in the wrong. I agree with the other reviewer who said that leadership needs more emotional intelligence. Salary is not competitive and is under NYC market average. There are no benefits to counterweigh the low salary. Coordinators are (I believe) around 40-45K. Associate Account Managers start off around 50-55K. AMs are given around 65K. SAMs are around 75K. They do not give annual bonuses. Annual raises are 5%, which means you're losing money every year you stay here as it's well under the national inflation rate. There is a toxic overtime mentality here. Everyone is expected to work late, however there is no overtime pay. There were folks working 14 hour days for months and received no compensation adjustment for it. Even when taking sick days you can expect to be pinged throughout the day. Dwindling work. 80% of the cash flow comes from 2 companies.
