The company lacks A LOT of culture. Given the fully remote option, you don't get a chance to connect with people a lot and even if you're in the office, everyone's scattered and all over the place. It's extremely challenging to make friends at the Firm. Partners are extremely opinionated individuals and often times, they make you feel uncomfortable speaking up in meetings. The reporting structure is very different from other industry sectors that I've worked for (consulting, accounting, etc.), going back to to opinionated individuals, you have to go through many layers of senior management in order to push an initiative or get anything done. Project timelines get pushed to a few quarters back and also, the I.T. team was not helpful at all for the time I was there. Most of the time, they weren't friendly to me. What's worst is that the Firm does not invest in technology, I'm surprised they use such an outdated system for expenses and also for their intraweb. There are ZERO corporate perks with this company. You don't get any discounts whatsoever from the Firm. This one was a shocker to me given Fasken is one of the biggest law firms in Canada. Admin staff are also NOT entitled to bonuses, talk about being "inclusive". There is however, a Christmas bonus at the end of the year but it's peanuts compared to the bonuses given out to non-admin staff.
