Management and HR are beyond poor (Gaslighting everywhere)
Pros
This is only a good place to work if you plan on using it to get some work experience in a Biotech setting under your belt. Or in need of a job very badly.
Cons
Management/HR/Reputation: The management of this business state that all their issues are due to "growing pains," because they are growing fast as a business. This is NOT TRUE. Their problem derives from extremely poor management, that viewed employees as extremely replaceable and less then themselves to the point where due to how poorly they manage things and mistreat their workforce their turnover rate got so high they weren't able to actually replace all the people walking off the job or quitting even with the help of employment agencies working to source more people for them. The work environment is very narcissistic cliquey (they behave like a bunch of pretentious divas) if your not a part of the "Management/HR/R&D clique" as an employee or even as a person in management, HR, or R&D. You will be harassed, undermined, neglected, and either forced out or even fired. I saw that happen numerous times. I also saw people who were in the clique that had lost their favor in the group change being forced out as well rather quickly. Even in the clique they are very backstabbing. It is a zero trust environment. Super Toxic. To cover up for that poor reputation they pad their google reviews. The majority of those reviews are from management and HR, they are always high five-four star reviews. Google doesn't help by purging the poor reviews on the behalf of company. So when you look at any positive reviews on Glassdoor look at them with some suspicion, HR and management will pad reviews on here as well. There is zero trust, upward movement, or integrity at this business, unless you are in management or HR. The management and HR department's relationship is very incestuous (literally and figuratively). Anything that a manager wants to do to another employee is rubber stamped, endorsed, and covered up by HR regardless of the level of illegality or immorality. I saw numerous employees severely mistreated. The management is supremely paranoid about intellectually property theft to the point were they won't advance employee's internally, so no upward movement unless you are in management already. Along with going on internal witch hunts if they think have a leak, they target and harrass those they suspect based on no evidence. Or even designate an employee as a corporate spy using them as a sacrificial scapegoat, destroying that employee as much as possible, to appease upper management if they lose an intellectual property lawsuit with a competitor. Diversity/Inclusion: If you are member of a minority group with will actively say, "We are democrats, we are very tolerant here." However, once again, this is just more smoke and mirrors to cover for how they actually are. The moment you as a member of a minority group step out of line or make a mistake the hammer is going to come down twice as hard for you than anyone else. Also, don't expect any sort of advancement with the organization, that's off the table right away. You may even be sent to 2nd or 3rd shift just so they don't have to see and interact with you. As a member of a minority group this happened to me and I saw it happen to others. Work Life Balance: There is no work life balance for the regular employees. Only management and HR. You are expected to work overtime when they need you to. Attendance is everything to this place to a ridiculous extreme. I saw the best, hardest work, and most capable employees be terminated after coming to work late only three times regardless of circumstances. These employees may have been late, but their shift also wouldn't officially start till 30 minutes after they were supposed to clock in due to shift change overlap. These employees were the ones who were as active outside of work as within work. This resulted once again in a worker shortage and higher turnover. It also left the workforce completely composed of absentee employees, they would arrive on time, but when at work do little and not really care about their jobs. Resulting in those that stayed and do work to become even more overworked. Even their engineers and research technicians have more projects dumped on them then they are able to carry out at one time. So often those projects are expected to be worked on simultaneously even if they undermine the completion time of them by doing so. All of this eventually lead to so much burnout that employees were either literally just walking off the job, quitting, or developing mental health issues like depression. If you complain about all of this or do develop mental health issues the management and HR will just start gaslighting you, to once again cover up their failings and through it back on the employees. Because nothing is ever their fault, it is either business or the employees fault (Sarcasm). Pay and Benefits: They will pay you the lowest amount possible, unless once again, you are in management or HR. If you are in those two groups you will be paid 2-3 times that of the other even more experienced and higher paid employees. When I worked here they literally were paying people less money then the Kwik Trip across the street was willing to pay people, and that job is much less stressful and a less technically skilled then what they demand. This is true for general production/manufacturing staff as it is for those in R&D. When called out on it and losing employees because of it, it took them a year to finally raise wages to something more fair, but only after once again burning through all the employment agencies to the point were those agencies couldn't even cover for the losses.
