Pros

A truly warm welcome and plenty of advantages to be part of the company. My colleagues are really nice and I enjoy the tasks I have been assigned so far.

Cons

I haven't met my colleagues yet as I am working remotely, but soon enough.

Pros

Interesting product space and ambitious company mission. Mental health days,

Cons

In the past 6-8 months the engineering environment has gone down the drain. Fixed deadlines with fixed scopes, with the ocasional snarky comment from top leadership about how slow things move. In this last months many crucial people left or are on the way out: (director of engineering and lead and senior engineers) This left the CTO to manage engineering directly, who lacks complete empathy for people, constantly implies the message that everyone is lazy, when they work from home they don't do much (thus the mandatory 3 days at the office). There have been cases where people where being accused of being sick too often (or faking it), leading to coming to the office extremely sick just to prove it. There have also been threats of dismissal in a public engineering channel if people missed meetings like "international women's day"

Pros

There are some fun people to learn and work with across all business functions. Great opportunity to work with the latest tech stack. Like with all start ups you have to be good at dealing with ambiguity in a less structured environment. This provides the opportunity to bring ideas to the table like how processes could be improved or how teams could work more collaboratively together.

Cons

My experience of very poor management in my team - not team orientated, no transparency, and no honesty. My new manager at the time did not acknowledge my contributions and mentioned I didn’t contribute to anything significant despite having built some of the core work and foundations. SMH…. This was already a red flag to me. Then at the end of my four months here. My manager didn’t pass or extend my probation! This was a complete shock to me because there was no mention in our one to one conversations about why I might not pass probation… I would have appreciated it if he could have informed me his reason so I could have had the chance to reflect on what I needed to improve on. I was extremely disappointed because of the fact that I have asked him “Is there anything you don’t like that I can improve on?” And I have raised to talk about probation multiple times which he ignored each time. This is ridiculous to me because two of the four values at GetGround are ‘Feedback Obsessed’ and ‘No BS’. Anyway I respected the decision made as there was nothing I could do and he had made up his mind already as he was committed to letting me go so I wished him and the team good luck via Slack and I didn’t get a response back. Sadly, I didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to some of the great people I have met because I was still in shock at the time and then my account was shut down the next day. Which is a shame because I have met some smart people I enjoyed working with where I would happily have a drink or two with. Unfortunately this event had made my experience at GetGround not the experience I was hoping for despite I was fully invested in the mission and I felt I aligned heavily on their values and I looked forward to some of the projects I could have got involved in. It was a real shame.
