Pros

I appreciate other jobs more after this job.

Cons

Fascist about every aspect, from headphones to work schedule to rendering style. No regard for designer growth, take advantage of the eagerness of young designers. Make you use decade old computer that runs debilitatingly slow and blame you for being inefficient. Generally set you up for failure and punish you for their fault. No regard for your understanding of the projects you are working on. Stay in your lane and draft and render and smile or else. So many people get fired right before they are supposed to get insurance or 401k. They care more about spec-ing expensive materials and getting kick back from shady suppliers than design. This is a cesspool of truly despicable creatures polluting our industry.

Pros

Company pays for coffee on Fridays. You don’t have to work overtime if you are good at pushing back when asked to work after 5. Bernard is almost never in the office. Health insurance is paid fully.

Cons

Pay is dismal. $500 annual standard bonus. Company does not encourage licensure. You have to act cheery and fake around the office manager to comply with “studio environment”. Women are most definitely making less money than inferior white male counterparts. Project managers complain about the pregnant woman at the time and previous pregnant women.

Thank you for leaving a review. We do, in fact, encourage licensure and provide continuing education funds for use in exam fees. There are many licensed people in the firm and several others in the process of getting licensed. We also have an internal library of study materials to aid in people’s efforts to be prepared. Our salaries are based on experience and skill, and our goal is that our workforce should reflect a diversity of perspectives. We are sorry you had a negative experience. We’d be happy to engage directly on any and all of these comments if you have any interest in doing so. Please email us at info@groundstudio.com and we’ll be in touch.
