Hi there, and thanks for the honest feedback to wake up and smell the coffee. I'd really appreciate the opportunity to get to the bottom of where your perceptions of our intentions are stemming from. I can tell you care deeply about making this a better place to work for you and your coworkers, and I bet you have some ideas for how we can go about doing that. While it seems you believe otherwise, I can say with absolute clarity that we live and breath coffee & community here at Groundwork. We absolutely care about the well-being of our employees and the health of our culture. I would greatly appreciate the chance to have an open and honest dialogue with you so that we can address your concerns directly. Please reach out to HR or management if you're willing to collaborate with us constructively.

Disorganized, Disconnected, Beware.

Pros

Free weekly coffee or tea, free/discounted food and drinks from the stores. Very very good coffee, the product speaks for itself.

Cons

This company is painfully disorganized and the employee culture is completely disconnected. 4 separate buildings on one street (corporate) which causes a HUGE lack of communication + retail cafes and catering completely separated. Problems are never fixed. Owners have no clue what's going on. Negative and unprofessional work environments due to lack of supervision & leadership. The main office is tiny and covered in dirt (also no break room) while there is other departments in a very nice office with a ping-pong table and couch. Large work loads are put upon capable people with no compensation. Unnecessary positions are created, then hired at such high salary that hardworking employees get rightfully insulted. HR is very unresponsive and does not seem to be genuine.

Hi there, and thanks for the feedback. Since this comment was left a little over a year ago, we have made a number of changes to our org. structure, including the onboarding of 3 VPs to oversee our Operations, Sales, and Finance/HR teams in an effort to align the company on our vision, direction, and culture. While I do believe we've made some tremendous strides, we still have our work cut out for us. It's thanks to our amazing (and often patient) employees that this business continues to grow, and going forward, we aim to provide more clarity, support and better communication between upper management and front-line leaders. As for the 3 separate buildings at HQ, we are planning to break ground on a brand new building very soon near our NOHO roasting facility which will house our operations, sales, admin teams and commissary in one beautiful, central location. I agree that our people are our most important asset, followed by our very very good coffee. We are working on improving communication and transparency from the top down, and our lean & mighty HR team constantly advocates on behalf of the employees who keep this Groundwork boat afloat.
