Pros

I gained the experience that I needed. I meet some good people who will be lifelong friends.

Cons

Waited almost 5yrs for a raise and then told hit the ceiling while people with less experience and/or education was making 2x more because they were "revenue" producing but it really was a color thing. My manager was a no show after a year, I did ALL of the work, but instead of being promoted, the good ol boy system transferred someone from TX, who was friends with VP of my dept and I had to constantly tell how to do things even AFTER I quit, go figure. GMs were jokes and thieves constantly changing payplans so they could get 10k+ bonuses while sitting on their butts or taking 5hr breaks at the gym while the salespeople busted their butts made minimum wage and had to pay back money IF they made commission the next pay cycle. And instead of getting fired for mishandling and thievery GMs are rewarded with new positions and moving expenses out of state, 6mos bonuses and other gifts. Grp1 is a revolving door because employees aren't appreciated or recognized even when they do the hard work.

Pros

It's retail car sales. Good money if you are good with people and let the sales managers help you with your deals. Decent training about how to manipulate people into making a large purchase based on emotions.

Cons

Long hours (60/wk). You will work with a lot of sociopaths. Management does things the way they've always done them because they've always done them that way. Short-term thinking dominates. There is a lot of talk a lot about teamwork, transparency and professionalism, but actually fosters a hostile work environment. Problems are met with hand-waving and "Welcome to the car business!". Strong tendency to shift blame and pass the buck. Management consists of former top sales associates, which almost always lack the skill-set to manage people. Unfortunate marriage of the typical car business with corporate mind-set.

Pros

Decent pay, ok benefits. Nice facilities overall

Cons

Group One is a publicly traded automotive consolidator, and corporate management has done an outstanding job of returning value to their share holders. Stock trades at an all time high. Unfortunately, this is done on the backs of it's employees. General Managers are bonused based on "holding down " comp expense, so pay is not good for the work performed.Gen Mgrs. make great $$, the rest of the employees, not so much. Revolving door, and employees are just a number.
