Pros

Nothing. The salary may seem amazing but it’s not worth destroying your mental health over...

Cons

Where do I start? From the moment you join CHDA there is no guarantee of long term employment. You leave job security in order to start a new role with multiple exit points during training. It costs them thousands to hire & train you, but they’re very cut throat & will terminate your contract immediately (without pay) despite there being a 2 week notice period du during your 6 month probation. The constant audit is overwhelming. The goal posts in terms of quality, what information is needed and how you need to word things are constantly moved. This happens without there being adequate time for staff to adjust; this isn’t taken into consideration & feedback is always negative and demeaning. Your ability to make your own clinical judgement is taken away from you; although YOU have carried out an assessment, three people could read your report and critique it in 3 very different ways. Auditors make it up as they go along, and what is deemed right or wrong changes depending on which way the wind is blowing that day. Trying to keep up with the constant changes, write detailed reports that are of a high “quality” and meet targets is impossible, and it’s mentally draining. This jobs destroys your mental and physical health. You’re not cared about and are just a number at the end of the day. They pretend to care about your mental health and wellbeing, however it’s all a complete lie.

Pros

The salary is the only positive

Cons

I would not recommend anybody to work here, not even my worst enemy. Before I worked here I would describe myself as a very positive and happy person and I can say that this place broke my spirit. I have seen colleagues break down at work due to the constant unrealistic targets, I have witnessed my colleagues being bullied and when they have reported it they have been advised "this is what the job entails and if you can't hack it then leave". The role is very target focused and if you meet your target then good on you, then you are pressured to take extra cases and made to feel like a failure to the business if you can't see the extra ones despite that not being in your contract. During my first month I had life saving emergency surgery and was of work, and came back to a disciplinary as I had more than the acceptable amount of time off. I've seen colleagues be disciplined for being off work with stress RELATED to the work they do at Chda. I've been asked to stay late to see extra, having been advised I would get the time back and I never did. They lure you in with the salary, but please do not fall for it, the money is not worth your mental and physical well being. A colleague of mine had a bereavement so didn't wish to see an additional case and was advised she was a failure and had an attitude problem. If you question management you are automatically questioned on your 'work ethic' and labelled as having behavioural issues. I've seen colleagues that have been told they would loose their jobs if they didn't pick up an additional case, the more you do for this business the more they expect and demand, you will be taken advantage of and you will feel emotionally exhausted. You'll notice that some colleagues will be let off for things that you will be told off for. The business is run by admin staff who haven't a clue of the pressures that health care practitioners have to go through, no empathy what so ever. The reception staff are pushed to breaking point by management then when they can't cope anymore they are told to leave if they 'can't cope'. You are only ever supported as much as its convenient for the business... Which isn't a lot. Do yourself a favour and do not work here.
