      Don’t Be Lured In By The House

      The values that the organization were founded on are amazing.

      Cons

      The current President (Alejandra Barraza not Cheryl Polk) is neurotically nit-picky only about how things look on the outside. Meanwhile there is no order or structure within the organization. Staff are over workers because she fired two thirds and left the last third to do pick up all of the slack. They underpay people, disrespect boundaries and are not disability accessible. Barraza makes subordinates uncomfortable and makes them feel less than.

      Dave Weikart was a visionary who developed a high-quality, child-centered curriculum that is still relevant to this day.

      Cons

      This workplace is toxic and leadership uses fear and threats as tools to gain compliance. Staff turnover is high and has been for years, steadily losing content experts and gaining contracted employees with little applicable knowledge. The culture is defined by scarcity: never enough money, time, or expertise. If you are at the onset of your career and are hoping to learn new skills, expand your professional network, or receive mentorship or any type of professional learning, do not work at Highscope.
