Pros

Some nice people work/worked there.

Cons

Do your due diligence before leaving your stable job or saying no to other job opportunities! Find people on LinkedIn that used to work at Holistic AI and ask about their experience and honest opinion. I was part of a new team to sell to the enterprise. We were highly productive, and from week one, we were making appointments with enterprise businesses AND running discovery calls whilst onboarding! Three weeks in, on a Friday afternoon, the founders called all 4 of us and told us "they were going in a different direction" in 90-second calls and fired the whole team! No other explanations were given. Naturally, I was shocked, so I asked for a proper explanation and got nothing. So I insisted, and one of the founders, with a reputation for being very short-tempered, said he didn't even have to meet with me and was doing so as a professional curtsy! After the dust settled, we had other x-employees reach out to us to say they had similar experiences across all teams, including engineering. From people that are still there, I heard they are hiring for the same roles they just fired all of us from! What was the point of hiring us and firing us in 3 weeks?! We still don't know. About the founders: Both were PhD students with zero previous experience in running a company. One is passive and keeps his head down. The other cannot hear feedback - or even gently worded constructive criticism. He will end the conversation and walks out on you.

Pros

Some very good people in the company that will probably end up leaving - judging from the conversations that I had with some of them.

Cons

When I initially joined Holistic, I didn't read any reviews about the company, but after I was fired, quite recently, I started reading all the reviews on Glassdoor and I realised that there is a pattern. Apart from a solitary individual, senior leadership remains disconnected from regular employees, although given that this is a startup, one would expect senior people to work alongside regular employees but that's not the case at Holistic AI. I understand your skepticism, but you read it correctly and it raises the same concern that I had - if senior leaders are absent from the daily interactions it suggests a lack of genuine concern for their workforce, making terminations all the more straightforward. It's an exceedingly unusual culture for a startup, I know! Furthermore, be cautious about believing any promises they make. They may express intentions of collaborating to create an exceptional product and company. Yet, in the end, if your performance doesn't align with their undisclosed criteria, you'll find yourself terminated, with no explanation of what 'good enough' even means. I want to conclude by saying that you should not have any hopes of Holistic AI showing concern for your career goals, as they will promptly shut down any attempts to initiate such discussions.

Pros

The best part about Holistic AI is that they give you ... nice "stories" :)

Cons

I was promised many things, almost none of them got materialized. You will start working as what they call data scientist but in reality you will end up working on Excel spreadsheets or whatever they consider essential for the company, typically involving uninspiring ideas. Reluctantly, I share this review, prompted by witnessing a colleague forced to leave the company. The criteria for passing probation are ambiguous, seemingly dependent on whether they like you or not rather than defined standards. I'd suggest to temper your enthusiasm about completing the probationary period, as even after a successful probation, the prospect of termination persists, exemplified by my teammate dismissed without a clear reason, except that they were no longer favored, causing them stress and ultimately leading to their departure—a situation that suggests my colleague was compelled to leave. I started asking myself, how was that possible for someone like them, that already passed probation and I later discovered, through one of my friends, that the motivation behind their actions is the protection afforded by UK legislation, which facilitates an easier termination of employment within the initial 2 years of service.
