Pros

1. Fair salary & benefit 2. Famous Brand Name 3. Not frequent turnover(staff movement) 4. Many Cons

Cons

1. Tedious task & admin work (Overload task & Multi-task, No rest) 2. People are extremely unfriendly a) (Difficult to communicate, people are blacked-face all the time, you are expected to listen many obnoxious exhortation (i.e. uncomfortable speaking) from different colleague when you have made a negligibly simple mistake even in attitude & gestures) b) Too many people are perfectionist & unrealistic which makes the entire process ineffective & unproductive c) People are selfishly arrogant, self-centered, unconsciously unhelpful which makes a disharmony & stressful, frustrated working environment, which becomes a obviously huge gap between different position level. 3. Office Politics 4. Strict internal rules, Complicated procedures & control is required to follow 5. Long working hours 6. Insufficient management on resources allocation(i.e. unlimited workload vs limited staff) 7. Hard to have promotion for junior staff 8. Very Old-minded set for some Old/Senior staff 9. Working culture is close-minded & conservative (people are insisted and would not willing to accept other's feedback, especially senior staff) 10. Famous Brand Name but not really the truth for the insider. 11. Working under pressure everytime. 12. Not Caring about staff's personal mind but only force you to follow their usual pattern. (unwilling to change their bad habit) 13. Chaos Management 14. Bad working environment & messy company structure~chaos 15. Hard to claim OT with bad feelings 16. Unbalance working life 17. Limited learning curve 18. Poor technology and outdated system 19. Wasting paper (Lots of printout) 20. HK-style management (urgent & no time of rest)

Pros

The pay was quite good, but as I understand it, this is no longer the case. They bumped up the base and completely gutted the bonus. You used to get 6-7 months bonus with cash and stock, but now it's down to just 2 months if you are lucky.

Cons

Management at HKEX is horrendous. No one takes responsibility and just push work around. None of the senior managers seem to be able to retain any information and keep asking the same silly questions week after week. Work environment itself is toxic, as the more senior you are the less likely you will be to do any actual work. The entire sales team exists to just drink themselves into oblivion everyday and leave at 4 pm.

Bureaucracy and Burnout in IT Dept

Pros

Employment here has been a lesson in endurance

Cons

- Extreme level of bureaucracy - Work environment is highly stressful due to constant pressure and unrealistic expectations from management - Expect to work weekends and overtime, severely detrimental to work life balance - Outdated procedures hinders innovation and efficiency, oppressing any attempt at innovative problem-solving. You will always hear "but we've always done it this way" - Job security and performance reviews are used as a threat to push employees harder - Focus on fault finding rather than employee development or process improvement
