Pros

The company will give you a security clearance.

Cons

I wouldn’t recommend working here. The workload can feel all over the place, and “teamwork” is often used to justify constantly shifting expectations. Instead of having clear, stable processes, the team is expected to keep adapting on the fly, which makes the job more frustrating than it needs to be. A big issue is how much the company prioritizes keeping customers happy at any cost. This often leads to the team having to jump through hoops and constantly adjust how things are done, even if the changes make the work more complicated or inefficient. New processes and tools are introduced frequently, not because they help employees, but because they serve short-term customer demands. There is very little focus on developing or retaining employees. Promotions are rare, and even when people prove themselves, leadership tends to hire from outside instead of promoting internally. It makes it hard to stay motivated when it feels like there’s no real path forward or recognition for the work you put in. There’s also a noticeable push toward AI and automation, which adds to the uncertainty. It can feel like the focus is less on supporting the current team and more on figuring out how to replace parts of it. Combined with the lack of recognition, it creates an environment where employees don’t feel particularly valued. Overall, it just didn’t feel like a place that invests in its people, which is why I decided to leave.

Pros

I worked at Hunter Strategy as a Senior Security Analyst, and it was genuinely one of the best professional experiences I’ve had. The leadership team is not only highly competent but also transparent, supportive, and invested in both the success of the company and the people within it. Everyone looks out for each other, shares knowledge freely, and works as a team to solve problems. I’ve worked at several MSSPs, and the talent at Hunter Strategy stands well above the rest. It feels fulfilling working somewhere that genuinely provides a world class service to their customers. Leaving was bittersweet, I’m going to miss working here.

Cons

I wouldn’t consider these cons because it’s an expected part of SecOps, but it’s very fast paced, dynamic, and evolving. If you don’t put in the effort, you’re going to have a difficult time.

Pros

Good people and good starter based company

Cons

Lacks any growth opportunities. Making people go into office after being remote for years. Don’t take constructive criticism well. Managers and leadership spend more time vacationing then actually working.
