Pros

The office, which the organization intends to leave in the near term, is in a great location. The insurance options + opportunities for paid leave are very good.

Cons

- Little to no opportunity for growth beyond Associate to Coordinator nominal promotions - Insane rates of employee turnover that totally destabilize projects and leave remaining employees scrambling - The organization employs a bevy of unqualified, inarticulate middle managers that grossly mismanage initiatives and push subordinates to flee for the exits. -Toxic office culture and rampant nepotism (management-tolerated office gossip, regular public firings, special treatment offered to OED staff, etc.) - Employees are regularly expected to go beyond job duties with little appreciation or recognition from leadership -Below market pay for staff below the “Director” level with embarrassingly paltry annual raises and “bonuses” - Cold, disinterested upper management unwilling to listen to staff concerns

Pros

Excellent benefits, you can set your work hours, there are some great people to work with, and the mission is important

Cons

Toxic workplace. Micromanagers who are allowed to retaliate if you say something. They treat you likea child, especially how senior leadership speaks to you.

Pros

The company has a good reputation in the field, so it can be helpful having on your resume.

Cons

Everything else. Toxic work environment - not uncommon to hear of managers yelling and making their staff cry. Middle management is disorganized and ineffective; leadership says they care but make no actual effort to change things. Low pay, favoritism and lack of transparency regarding salary and promotions. Office policies that made sense 10 years ago but not in 2024. Very high turnover rate, especially at the junior staff level. Unless you are going in as a Program Manager or above, you will probably hate it.
