Pros

Very good benefits that you don't see anywhere else. Travel. A personable CEO. Bonuses and raises every year. Good vacation policy.

Cons

About 85% of the company is senior management and above that spends their entire time emailing, on calls, or meetings. The remaining 15% consist of junior staff and interns that do all the actual work. Therefore, junior staff is miserable 10 months out of the year drowning in work. The environment is horribly toxic for an organization of less than 200 employees. Every company emails a lot, but the amount of emails in this company is absolutely, truly ludicrous. Most of those 85% that consist of senior management and above consistently try to throw anyone and everyone under the bus. The CEO will say over and over again how they care, but they don't at all. Complaints constantly fall on deaf ears every single time. It's all for show. The entire company runs on subjectivity, especially in matters of HR and promotions. The bonuses of the top 20 most senior staff are the equivalent of 1-2 people's salaries that could be used in so many other ways. No room for growth in 95% of the positions.

Pros

Interns do the same work research analysts do: data, charting, drafting reports, admin. Good experience if no research experience before. No training or anything like that but you learn by doing. It may be good on your resume if you interview with an employer who knows IIF. Some do but most don’t.

Cons

IIF executives make $500K-$2M/year and spend $10-15K on a single business trip. Interns are not paid. Interns are not given much priority for open positions. There are not that many positions opening either. Bunch of entry/mid-level positions have been eliminated. There are a ton of financial sector meetings and events but only managers attend. Not much networking opportunity.
