Pros

Provides good internal L&D opportunities Lots of people that truly believe in importance of evaluation

Cons

Don't seem to value experience that has been gained before Itad/after interview, and don't flex to allow people to build on the skills they are lacking. Hiring people who don't meet the internally required minimum requirements for the job they are employed for, but then not promoting people who are working consistently above their level. Not yet big enough to be forced to publish gender pay gap, but multiple instances of women being employed at lower level and/or salary but doing work at same or higher level than their male counterparts.

Pros

A lot of motivated colleagues with a real passion for evidence and for making a difference in international development. Flexible (to a certain extent) working from home policy.

Cons

Promotion and salary review processes aren't transparent. They recently started to implement performance benchmarks to ensure consistency on promotions across the company but still the process isn't transparent. Defensive senior management and HR on these issues. It is becoming increasingly corporate, and it is unfortunately focusing more on commercials rather than values and mission. Updates to the company are mostly on commercial value and revenue. No opportunities for external L&D or support with learning new skills externally. Women hired in lower level positions despite the same level of experience of male colleagues, very few women at the top. Defensive management on these issues again. No compensation if traveled for extensive periods or over the weekend. No over-time compensation but long hours are expected if working on reports/bids. Low salaries compared to similar companies in the same industry.
