Ridiculously-high turnover; erratic management

Pros

NONE. This company is basically unsalvageable; at least without a complete change in management. To the previous reviewer who mentioned good benefits, that was definitely not my experience. While I was there, InSite outsourced its payroll and benefits to a 3rd-party company, and the premiums were so high that it ended up being cheaper for me to go through the open health insurance marketplace.

Cons

Just to be clear, my review is for the InSite Group headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, FL, not the company of the same name in TN. This company is one of the worst and most unprofessional that I’ve ever worked for. Turnover there was off-the-charts. As a result, the office environment was tense and stressful, and everyone was constantly on pins-and-needles. Several of the employees I met when I interviewed were gone by the time I started working there just a few weeks later. And some of the people I was introduced to on my first day were gone within 2 to 3 weeks. InSite buys distressed hotels, renovates them (via a different division of the company), and sells or operates them (via yet another company division). But you’d think the company was a military or CIA contractor given the “cloak-and-dagger” climate of secrecy at the office. There were literally cameras EVERYWHERE - at least 1 in the ceiling overlooking each work station. And one of the top execs seemed to spend more time staring at the video footage than actually working. Simply put, upper management didn’t trust or respect their employees. They were constantly looking over your shoulder (literally and electronically). And they imposed a bunch of petty rules & regulations that only made the tension worse. Personnel were discouraged from interacting with one another, since management saw it as a waste of work-time. Even a brief good-morning chat with co-workers would earn you a glare from the head honchos. Lunch from 12:30-1:30 was mandatory, without regard for whether that worked with everyone’s schedule. And eating at your desk was not allowed. Computer use was strictly supervised (probably through monitoring software), so if you dared to take 5 minutes of your day to check personal email or pay a bill online, you would be reprimanded. I couldn’t wait to walk away from the company to go back to a normal working environment. Overall, this was a horrible, unstable, stress-filled place to work. My best advice for you would be to stay away at all costs. If you’re really desperate for a job and InSite is your only option, you should keep up your job search while employed there because your stay will be extremely brief.

Pros

Good experience to challenge oneself to unreasonable demands

Cons

Mandatory 12-1 lunch. Coming from a successful Fortune 500 Company I found this to be very odd. Business is like a kindergarten class... there are even cameras at every corner to stalk their employees in a completely unethical way. Upper management could care less about their employees. Stay away if you value your sanity as well as your career
