Pros

I worked in the marketing department. The new(ish) Director of Marketing, Kristina, is amazing. She is bringing structure to chaos without inhibiting creativity. Good listener, and great project manager. I feel like the department is going in a really positive direction. The whole company is based on an invention. Innovation is at the core of company culture. Upper management is very receptive to new ideas, and always looking for ways to make things better. I love that I felt heard, and feeling like I was making a direct and tangible impact on the company. Another nice thing is employees do generally tend to stick around -- impressively low turnover for a start up. I think it's in part because the culture is so great, and also in part because everyone is really invested in the company's success. It's a really powerful feeling getting to see the needle move and know that you were an integral part of it. There's also lots of room for advancement. A few examples: our current Director of Marketing applied to the company 5 years ago as an intern. She worked in sales and biz dev for several years, and got promoted like 3 or 4 times I think. It's cool to see people advance like that. And it happens all the time. Our customer service rep from a few years ago taught himself how to code a bunch of stuff, started making our Salesforce better, and then got promoted to Developer. Everyone at the company is really driven. Salaried employees do tend to work more than 40 hours/week, but it's not required or expected. I think for me I generally did around 45, sometimes 50. But it was usually because I was stoked about a project or wanted to do some extra learning; no one was making me. Indow does expect for you to be able to teach yourself stuff and solve problems independently. In some positions, you'll get a lot of training, and in some positions you won't. It really just depends. Thankfully they do tend to make the job descriptions pretty clear. Over the years people also get to evolve into their own positions. (And usually then promoted to some title describing that.) So if there's a particular thing you're really passionate about, while you won't get to hone in on it like immediately, within a year or so it seems like most people are able to make it happen. It's generally like they propose a few special projects and then get buy-in, and things evolve from there.

Cons

Tbh, leaving the company was an incredibly difficult decision. I was really happy working there. I wasn't even looking for another job, but then I ended up getting an offer at another company that was pretty much too good to refuse, and decided to move across the country and sell my soul. Cons for me at Indow were compensation. They do tend to pay their employees slightly below market rate. I was hoping for a significant raise after proving my worth to the company, and while there was some, it wasn't as much as I wanted. They do provide health insurance, FSA, paid vacation, and 401k. So you do have your bases covered at least. The HR and finance department are really great actually. And they even send out surveys to employees occasionally, asking them what kind of benefits they'd like to see next. The 401k is a more recent thing, and it's because that's what the employees expressed they want most.

Pros

Great company to work for. Onsite manufacturing work is good, office positions offer hybrid work setup for the most part. Most sales positions work full time.

Cons

None at the moment. Great place to work!
